The facades and masonry of your residential or office building are maintenance-friendly. Nevertheless, it is good to have the condition checked about twice a year. Joints aimed at the south and west, in particular, are more heavily loaded by rain, wind, heat and cold than the joints on the north and east sides. Cracks and breaks at connections can cause problems such as mold and leaks. Most walls have so-called open butt joints at the top and bottom. These butt joints ventilate the cavity. These also require timely maintenance to keep the cavity ventilation in order.

1

Remove algae and moss

Algae and moss cause discoloration of the facade and masonry. People often use a high-pressure sprayer to clean the facade, but caution is advised: bricks, for example, are harder on the outside than in the core. There is a good chance that you will damage that hard layer. The result is a clean, but more porous surface that gets dirty more quickly. That is why we treat the facade with a water-repellent product after removing algae and moss.

2

Check masonry

We advise you to have us check your masonry twice a year (after the winter and after the summer) to see if it is still hard enough. Joints on the south and west in particular are heavily loaded by rain, wind, heat and cold. Joints that crack and crumble can cause problems, such as mold and leaks.

3

Check ventilation

Most walls have so-called open butt joints at the top and bottom. These butt joints ventilate the cavity and therefore have an important function. There are also usually small grates for ventilation of the crawl space. We advise you to have us check about twice a year whether the ventilation openings are not clogged.

4

Cleaning concrete

Concrete requires virtually no maintenance, but you can clean it if it is heavily soiled. In this way a concrete component can appear as new again. We will of course also take care of this work for you.

5

Replacing jointing

The grout needs to be replaced if it is loose or falling out, if moss or algae grows on it, or if the grout becomes darker in color due to the action of moisture. Façades on the south and west in particular suffer from weather influences and are often the first to show signs of aging. If necessary, we can replace your jointing.
